Joroto M35 Magnetic Rower Review
JOROTO BACKGROUND
The M35 Magnetic rowing machine has quite a distinctive look , and if noise is an issue, this is a super-quiet rower. The incline beam helps you to burn up a few more calories, but this model does have a few downsides. Read on for more...
Assembly is straightforward and doesn't require specialist DIY skills. It shouldn't take even the novice builder more than 30 minutes to put together.

7.5THE HARDWARE
Once done, you're ready to go. The seat is a generic one you'll find on dozens of other models. It's firm but has some cushioning. However, if your backside is... err, a little on the larger side, then you might consider an additional cushion as the seat is not wide. The seat is approx. 10" off the floor, so if your knees or back are stiff you might want to consider a model with a higher beam to avoid discomfort.
The footrests are wide, and the Velcro straps thick enough to hold your feet in position. The footrests pivot, but they can be lock in place with a bar if you prefer to have them fixed. The handle is curved, well-padded and sits nicely in the palms.
The seat rollers are quiet and roll up and down the beam with little noise. As mentioned above, being a magnetic resistance machine means it's very quiet. There a 10 levels of resistance and can be selected by a knob on the central console. For most, the resistance levels are fine, but if you're pretty fit and strong you might find even the highest setting is not challenging. When you've done with the machine it can be stored away vertically in quite a small footprint if space is limited. |

THE DISPLAY CONSOLE
Unfortunately, the display and monitor is the weak link in the Joroto chain. The LCD screen is large enough and easy to read, but there's not a huge amount to read to be honest.
The screen display the time of your workout, the stroke count, and calories burned (estimated). You can put it in scan mode which means each of the above are displayed every 5 seconds. It's a shame that the meters rowed are not available, but you can perhaps use the time or stroke count as a metric for your workouts. The angle of the screen can be adjusted to make reading it easier. It can also be folded in when you've finished. |

REVIEW SUMMARY:
The Joroto Magnetic offers good value for money. It's quite a sturdy model, it's well built, and should last provide a few years trouble-free rowing. However, the display lets it down somewhat. If you want to sit and row for 30 minutes to burn off some calories, it's fine. But if you want something with pre-set workout programs with the option to record your progress, you'll need to spend a few more dollars - see 'Also worth a look' section below for more options.

ALTERNATIVES
There's plenty of alternative rowers to choose from in the price range of $300 to $500. If you're looking for a magnetic machine for a similar price, you can also consider the Stamina DT397 (also combines air). For a few more dollars, the Circuit Fitness has a superior monitor, or for more still, the Schwinn Crewmaster is a better rowing machine in our view.
